Frequently Asked Questions
Becoming a member means being an active member of the lab community. Please read our mission statement and documentation thoroughly and reach out to Dr. Stang with any questions as well as your introduction/bio, statement of interest, and up-to-date CV. See our Contact page for her email.
We welcome researchers from all backgrounds, disciplines, and experience levels which might include those working at or affiliated with an academic institution as well as independent scholars and community members. We do not currently have any funded positions available, but we welcome externally funded graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
Yes! Please include all the above info as well as let us know about your research project and who your supervisor is. We may reach out to your supervisor for more information.
Generally graduate students become part of STAR Lab through RA work for one of our members, though this isn’t a requirement. Please let Dr. Stang know if you’re looking to become involved as an RA.
This really depends on your project and needs. If you become a member we can offer technical support, in-kind support, as well as general advice/mentorship for research projects, grant applications, pedagogy, supervising, etc. We can help promote your events and of course you’d become part of our growing network of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scholars who are all interested in potential collaborations. We can also help introduce you to high quality graduate students who could become fantastic RAs. We have limited physical space at Brock but it could be available for use.
